Our BEAUTIFUL flower gardens

Grade 1/2 students made very beautiful flower gardens when learning about plants. They had to show the roots as well as some pollinators. Here are some of their pictures. When you come to DCS, there are many others decorating our school in the hallways.

The Pumpkin Gospel Story

The Story of a New Start with God
By Mary Manz Simon

My big round pumpkin shows me
God gives us a clean heart.
He will forgive our mess ups.
He offers a new start.

"wash me until I am clean and
whiter than snow." Psalm 51:7

The slime that fills the pumpkin,
all stringy slippery goo,
reminds me of my insides
before God makes me new.

"Now you are set free from sin." Romans 6:18

I scoop out the mushy gushies
like God cleans out my sin.
When He says, "I forgive you,"
I smile with a big grin.

"Our God you bless every one whose sin you
forgive and wipe away." Psalm 32:1

Come look into my pumpkin,
He's all clean inside.
And on the outside he is wearing
a smile that's big and wide.

"shout praises to the Lord!" Psalm 149:1

God's love is like a candle
that shines from the inside out.
It's beaming deep within me,
And so now I can shout!

"You are like a light for the whole world." Matthew 5:14

To glow like my big pumpkin
and have a nice clean heart,
ask God to please forgive you
you'll have a brand new start.

"act like people of the light and make your light shine." Ephesians 5:8

Cross Country Meets 2012 - Brantford & Dundas

This year our cross country team consisted of 25 students. We competed in two meets this season. On October 12, at Brantford Christian School, we had a great day and finished with senior girls & senior boys coming in first place. The junior girls came in second place.

On October 19, we travelled again by bus to Dundas Conservation Area. This meet invited 21 school to participate. Once again, our students did an amazing job. The junior girls came in first place, the senior boys placed second and the senior girls received third place. To complete the day, Dunnville Christian School came in second place over all schools that day! We are so proud of our cross country team! Congratulations!

Learning to save lives!

Defibrillator Training
with Grade 7/8 class

Defibrillators save lives but you need to know how to operate them in order for them to work. The grade 7/8 class had a training session on Monday, October 15. This training may make the difference between life and death. There was also a free training offered to the Dunnville community that evening at 7:30 p.m. We hope we never have to use a defibrillator, but thankful we have been trained if needed.

Brock University Field Trip:

The grade 7/8 class went on a field trip to Brock University on October 9. The focus of this trip was on building community, teamwork, and leadership. In the morning the students were given many different types of challenges or problems and they had to work together as a group to solve them.

For example, the students all had to stand on a wobbly platform and balance for one minute! One of the groups figured it out and lasted more than 5 minutes. They were a lot of fun were VERY noisy! In the afternoon the students had the opportunity to climb a high ropes course. There were a few different heights and each student was able to go at their own comfort level.

This was an awesome experience! We loved seeing how God created each student as a unique individual. These unique individuals are also able to function in a group and play an important role in a community. It is our prayer that these students will know who they are in Christ and will understand their place in this world.

Grandparents Day! Friday, October 5

We welcomed all our grandparents and grandfriends to school on Friday. There was a lunch served, as well as a fantastic program provided by the staff/students. Afterwards there was plenty of time to visit the classrooms. We are thankful to have a day set aside each year to invite these very special people
into the life of DCS!
