In January, the Grade 1/2 students did a Science unit on Animals. As part of this unit, each student had to research an animal of their choice and present the information to the class. It was a fun project. It is good for younger students to get up on front of their classmates and share with everyone what they learned. Here are some of the projects for you to see. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!

DCS Christmas Musical - Friday, December 14
It was a wonderful program this year. This years' theme was "It All Happened in the Country." Many joined us in hearing the story of Jesus' birth in a new way. There was a 2:00p.m. & 7:30 p.m. program.
Summary of the musical: Two city kids learn the true meaning of Christmas when their parent's car breaks down and they are left to stay with some country folks. Through the conversations and songs the city kids realize that they have been missing the true story.

Giving Hope to the Dunnville Community
There are some lessons that are taught outside the classroom, and that is one of the true spirit and blessing of giving to those in need. Some lyrics of a song come to mind, "and they will know we are Christians by our love." May God bless the coats, hats, mitts and food that were collected to help those in need this winter season. Our school collected these items for about 3 weeks. All items were brought to our local Salvation Army on Friday morning on December 7.

Boys Volleyball Tournament - Dec. 8, 2012
The grade 7/8 boys did a fantastic job yesterday. They worked hard and finished in third place out of nine teams. The day was very entertaining and many supporters came to support DCS. Thanks to Mrs. Vanderwier for coaching the boys this year! Enjoy these pictures taken at the tournament.

Science Fair - November 21
Every year in November our Grade 7/8 students complete Science Fair projects that test a variety of scientific experiments including many different topics. This year, we were once again marveled at the creativity that our students are capable of. Here are a few of the projects for you to see. All projects were judged in the morning, graded on their written and oral presentation, as well as their artistic back drops. In the afternoon, all students were delighted with a presentation by the Mad Science Guy. He performed a variety for science experiments and even some explosions. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all the staff and students. A HUGE thank you to our science fair judges this year!

Learning about Korean Culture
Hi, I'm Miss Han. I am doing my intern at Dunnville Christian School for 5 months. During my time, I'll introduce to the students about Korean culture, clothing and food. It has been a good experience so far. In the pictures below, I am introducing about Korean traditional dress, which is called Hanbok to the Grade 1 & 2 classroom. They learned about Hanbok and tried to wear it as well. Also, they had a chance to color the Hanbok, as you can see below. In Grade 3 & 4, I have showed the students how to make miniature Korean masks. It was a good craft, and the boys and girls all enjoyed it.

Momentum Choir at SDCH
MOMENTUM is growing.....
"believe.belong.inspire."
__________________________________________________
In September, Dunnville Christian School along with many other schools had the wonderful opportunity to go to Smithville District High School and listen to the Momentum Choir.
Momentum choir was established in the Niagara Region in 2007, through the vision of Executive and Artistic Director Mendelt D. Hoekstra, with the assistance of Bethesda Community Services and a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. It is a registered charitable organization and operates under the guidance of a Board of Directors.
Momentum’s mission is to provide an authentic musical experience in which the gifts of unique artists can be professionally nurtured, and through which the artists can be given the opportunity to belong, believe and inspire.
Since its inception, Momentum has grown to include over 45 talented singers and musicians who are passionate about sharing their joy in music with the world. It has become a sought-after choir that carefully chooses the events and venues at which it will perform.
Momentum rehearses weekly in St. Catharines, and all singers are invited to a placement audition.
To inquire about joining or booking Momentum, please contact Mendelt D. Hoekstra at mendelt@momentumchoir.ca
